Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty is an operation that allows to extract the excess of skin and the fat bags located in the eyelids, offering a more rested appearance and a rejuvenated aspect to the glance.

THE BEST CANDIDATES FOR THE BLEPHAROPLASTY

The best candidates for the cosmetic surgery of the eyelids are as much women as men, healthful, psychologically stable and physically realistic with their objectives. As people ages, the skin stretches, the muscles are debilitated and the fat is accumulated around the eyes, appearing "bags" in the superior eyelids as in the inferior ones. If You have "bags" in the inferior eyelid but there is no excessive skin, the transconjuntival approach may be made. In this procedure the incision is made on the inside of the inferior eyelid not leaving a visible scar .

PLANNING YOUR SURGERY

The initial consultation is very important. In this interview you may discuss with Dr. Tagliapietra the expectations that you have on the results of the intervention, if the surgery is needed in both superior and inferior eyelids, and if some complementary procedure is indicated in its case.

TYPES OF ANESTHESIA

The surgery of eyelids generally is made under local anesthesia and intravenous sedation. You will be awake during the surgery but relaxed and insensible to pain.

THE SURGERY

In a typical procedure incisions are made following the natural furrows of the superior eyelids and right below the eyelashes in the inferior eyelids. The incisions can extend until the "crows feet" if it is necessary. Through these incisions the skin is dissected, and the excess of fat, muscle and skin is extracted. At last the incisions are closed with a very delicate suture.

AFTER THE SURGERY

The postoperative recovery is fast. The evolution will be followed closely during the first two weeks. The points will be retired between the three and six first days. Once retired the inflammation will disappear gradually and you will begin to see and to feel much better.
