Aesthetic surgery of the nose

Rhinoplasty is the surgery that modifies the shape of the nose and is one of the most common aesthetic surgeries. It can reduce or enlarge its size, change the shape of the hump or the tip, narrow the alar cartilages or change to the angle between the nose and the lip. 

 

 

      

THE BEST CANDIDATES

The best candidates for surgery are those patients seeking to improve the way they look. If you are in a healthy condition and you have  realistic expectations you can be a good candidate.

The age should be considered. Patients should not be operated until they have completed their facial bone development, which occurs after age 15 for women and 17 for men.

 

 

PLANNING YOUR SURGERY

 

In the interview we will discuss your expectations and if any additional procedure is needed in you case.
Dr. Tagliapietra will explain the techniques of anesthesia to be used, the surgical facility where the intervention will take place  and the risks and costs involved.

TYPES OF ANESTHESIA

 

The rhinoplasty can be done under local anesthesia with neuroleptoanalgesia or general anesthesia according to the case and the patient´s choice. The first one is the most common, you will be sedated throughout the surgery and without pain as the entire area will be blocked and insensitive.

 

THE SURGERY

Depending on the case surgery usually requires one to two hours, although more complicated procedures can be extended. During surgery is take off the skin covering the nose and changes in the cartilage and bone adapts to the shape desired. Then the skin is replenished on the new structure and a cast is placed on it.

 

 

AFTER THE SURGERY

After surgery, particularly the day after you can feel your face swollen, some pain in the nose and probably some headache. Most of these symptoms can be controlled with painkillers and anti-inflammatories. You must stay in bed semiseated for 48 hours after the intervention.
