Breast Reduction
     

Women with very large, often pendulous, breasts are candidates for a breast reduction. We call the condition of very large breasts "gigantomastia." Medical complaints of women with gigantomastia include:

 

  • Pain – Of the back, neck, shoulders, and breasts themselves

  • Headaches – From neck strain secondary to the weight

  • Stretching and thinning of the breast skin – Traction of gravity eventually stretches breast skin making it thin and fragile

  • Numbness – Skin stretching can cause loss of skin sensitivity

  • Grooving of shoulders – Where bra straps cut in from supporting the breasts; may cause permanent skin discoloration in the grooves

  • Arthritic changes – Of the neck and upper back

  • Difficulty breathing – The weight of large breasts can be a lot of work for an older person with existing heart or lungs problems

  • Poor posture – Caused by the breast weight, with rounding of shoulders

  • Rashes, skin inflammation, & irritation beneath the breasts – Drooping breast skin resting against skin of upper abdomen creates perspiration, bacterial growth, irritation; worse during warm weather
     

 

 

      

 CAN IT  BE RIGHT FOR ME?

It is advisable to make the reduction of the breast after the age of the development. As long as pregnancy and  lactancy affects mammary tissues, each case will have to be discussed in individual with the Dr Tagliapietra.

HOW WILL BE THE SURGERY?

This surgery is made in a clinic under general anesthesia, the care of a anesthesiology, and cardiac monitoring. When its intervention concludes you will be accompanied its room by postoperating recovery where hs. will habitually remain boarding school by 24 before the discharge.

 
  
HOW IS THIS OPERATION PERFORMED?
 The types of incisions to reduce their breasts can vary depending on the size and shapes of the same ones and the amount of wished reduction. The areolas and nipples always remain united to the mammary gland allowing to preserve the sensitivity and the glandular function (lactancy) in most of the cases.

  

WHAT WILL BE THE RESULTS?

Without the excessive weight of the breasts, you will find that you will enjoy more iyour life. Your body will be seen more proportionate, the clothes will fit better and you will gain freedom in physical activities. Although the incisions will not disappear completely, they will be little noticeable and totally hide by the brassiere.

The breast reduction makes a great change in its corporal image, and you will be able to need some time to be accustomed to your new appearance, although most of the women feel quickly comfortable with his smaller and well shaped breasts.
